AWANA

AWANA stands for “Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed” from the following bible verse: 

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the Word of Truth” 

- 2 Timothy 2:15

Groups

  • Puggles - 2 to 3 years old
  • Cubbies - 3 to 5 years old
  • Sparks - Kingdergarten to 2nd grade
  • Truth and Training - 3rd grade to 5th grade

    Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15)

    We are inviting all children, even if they are not members of SHINING STAR COMMUNITY CHURCH, to Awana, where they can learn the Word of God and develop physical and spiritual fellowships through various games.

    Founded in 1950 in a Chicago church, Awana is a ministry that helps children from ages 2 through 18 grow strongly in faith. The name AWANA comes from the phrase “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” from 2 Timothy 2:15. The goal of Awana is to help children discover more about God through memorizing the Word of God: Bible memorization is the heart of the program
